I cannot believe AI has gone this far

  • Calculators good

  • AI bad

    • AI is not deterministic - we cannot rely on AI to produce the same result each time.

  • And AI Expensive

So can we ever trust AI, really & truly trust it? It seems to me not, that AI is some probability - do you want anything delivered because a probablity said it was the right thing? How often does it have to be right, before we assume it is always right?

Can AI ever be a trusted being, like a chartered engineer or a judge? If these are the types of people we rely on in the world, and who we look up to. Will we ever look up to ChatGPT? Perhaps some already do - personally, I have run thousands of lines of code written by AI; do I look up to it? No, it is just a tool, much the same as autocorrect. This is distinction that is difficult to keep clear - when AI is being used as a tool, an opinion, or fact.

It is a fact, that what we currently call "AI", can never be fact.
